Kathie, several years ago, my daughter, Renee, and I attended a seminar you gave in Cleveland, Ohio. You were an inspiration to our family. Her little guy, Jack, 3 1/2-years-old, was born with Down syndrome. Renee recently stopped Jack's "extra" therapies. It's hard not to question your own actions when others think you're "harming" your child by taking him out of special services. Jack is thriving in a typical preschool and many other general activities along with his baby sister.

Your "Go Beyond Goals: Think Outcomes" article came along and it re-enforced to Renee that her decision was proper for their family at this time. Kathie, there really aren't many role models in our area who are as positive as you are. So thank you for being the inspiration that our family needs. Our daughter is a very positive person, always looking to help other families achieve greatness for their children. It's easy to get frustrated with the system. Again, you are the light we need to keep us all focused. I am Jack's Gramma Barb, loving every minute I get to spend with all of my grandchildren!
