I can’t believe that it’s been over three years since I first contacted you. Let me begin by telling you that my son, Bradley, is absolutely THRIVING in a regular first-grade classroom AND he played in his first basketball game Saturday—not a “special needs” program, just a plain old basketball league w/ an emphasis on character and sportsmanship.

We didn’t even disclose anything about Brad’s diagnosis [of autism] until we spoke to his coach before practice began because we didn’t want anyone making any presumptions about him based on a diagnosis that doesn’t tell you diddly-squat about him as an individual.

It worked out beautifully—his teammates accept him completely and his coaches have come up with some really innovative ways to support him both during practices and games. We’re taking it one-day-at-a-time with basketball and school, trying to determine what supports Brad needs as we go along. If I hadn’t been directed to your website years ago, I probably never would have even considered inclusion, much less made it a priority. Whenever I need a pep-talk or some inspiration I know I can find it there. Thank you!
