- Web pages and/or PDF articles that are printed must be used "as is." They may not be changed in any way, and they may not be scanned into your computer for purposes of altering them in any way.
- You do not need to ask for permission to make copies to use articles as handouts, but we appreciate your letting us know, and we welcome any comments you'd like to share. Click here to contact us.

You do not need to ask for permission to include a link, as described above. USING ARTICLES ON WEBSITES, BLOGS, NEWSLETTERS, ETC:
PLEASE READ EVERYTHING IN THIS SECTION BEFORE GOING FURTHER!
Plagiarism and/or other misuse of articles, excerpts, artwork, logos, and other intellectual property—whether intentional or not—is, unfortunately, all too common on the internet. We take this issue very seriously and hope you do, too. To prevent plagiarism and/or other misuse of our materials, we do not allow any articles, excerpts, artwork, logos, or other materials to be copied and pasted on other websites, blogs, social media sites, electronic newsletters, etc.
However, permission to republish and/or use articles from this site may be granted, according to the specific details outlined in the different sections below. Please read these sections carefully; we've tried to detail a variety of options.
In general, permission may be granted for articles to be republished (in print and electronically) so long as they're used as PDFs with security enabled, to prevent copying and pasting and/or other misuses of copyrighted material. Per the information in the different sections below, there are provisions for a "cut-and-paste" version of an article to be incorporated into your publication, so long as the final publication is turned into a PDF with security enabled. Many people who prepare newsletters and other print materials may not be aware of the importance of protecting their work (and the work of others), and they may not be familiar with how to enable security in a PDF, but the process is simple:
- Save the original document as a PDF.
- Click on the Lock icon (“Secure”) at the top of the document.
- Click “2-Password Encrypt;”
- A new window will open; scroll to the bottom third of that window;
- Click “Restrict editing and printing of this document”
- Enter a password;
- For “Printing Allowed” select “High Resolution;”
- For “Changes Allowed” select “None;”
- Check the box for “Enable text access for screen reader devices;”
- Click OK, and another window will open for you to re-enter the password.
- "Save” the document so the security features will be saved.
Again, please carefully read the sections below to understand the requirements for using articles from this site.
USING ARTICLES ON YOUR WEBSITE OR BLOG
Per the information in the overview above, no article or other materials from this site may be copied/pasted onto the pages of another website or blog. With permission, however, you can upload the PDF version of an article to your website, per the specific details below.
UPLOADING AN ARTICLE TO YOUR WEBSITE (For Blogs, see next section) If permission is granted, you can upload the requested article to your website, write a brief description about the article you wish to use, then create a link to the article, so visitors to your site can then download the article. The PDF version of the article must be used as is; scanning it to reformat it or altering it any way is prohibited.
If you have a "Resources" page on your website, we would appreciate your also including a link to the home page of our website (www.disabilityisnatural.com) on your "Resources" page.
Before uploading any article to your website, click here to complete the permission form.
CREATING A LINK TO AN ARTICLE ON YOUR WEBSITE OR BLOG You may prefer to simply create a link to one of our articles/pages, and this also applies to bloggers (since documents cannot be uploaded to most blogs ).
You're welcome to write a short description about one of our articles and create a link to the article/page. You do not need to ask for permission to include a link. However, as a courtesy, we would appreciate knowing that you've linked to an article, and would like to know the web address (URL) of where the link is on your website or blog. Click here to share that information with us. And thanks for the link!

You may request permission to republish one of our articles in a hard-copy newsletter, training manual, and/or other print publication. (See below for info on electronic newsletters.) NOTE: I do not use MS Publisher. If you use Publisher, there may be difficulties in inserting a PDF into your document, and I may not be able to assist with these difficulties.)
- You may request the PDF version of an article, to "insert" into your publication, or the plain text version (Word) which you can cut and paste into your publication. See the "Very Important" info below.

- After written permission is granted, you will be sent the version of the article (PDF or plain text) you're requesting, along with instructions.
VERY IMPORTANT! If you also archive your hard-copy newsletter, training manual, and/or other print publication on your website, before permission to republish a Disability is Natural article is granted, you must agree that you will save and upload the archived publication to your website as a PDF, with security enabled.
